Outside of the room, Uriel listened to their conversation with concern. Jealousy. And completely covered in blood. He heard Cyprian approach, so he walked away and then swiveled back around and feigned as if he was just arriving.

“Oh good,” he said. “Is Misake here too?”

“Yeah. What happened to you?” whispered Cyprian.

“I fought off four pirates with one hand. Ended up close to the Korea Strait? I think. You?”

“They managed to snag her with two harpoons and pulled her away. I chased them down to some island and got her back.”

Uriel nodded and spoke through his teeth with heavy sarcasm. “Thank God you were there for her.”

Cyprian ignored the masked insult and pointed towards Misake. “Go to her. She’s worried about you.”

The Latino vampire slightly harrumphed. He moved past Cyprian and peered inside of the bedroom. But Misake was fast asleep. Without saying another word, Uriel entered and shut the door on Cyprian.
